HOSPITALITY COMPANY SEEKS CATERING OPERATIONS AND SALES MANAGER

LOS ANGELES, CA

The hospitality company behind The Spare Room (Hollywood), Winsome (Echo Park), and Genghis Cohen (Beverly Grove/Fairfax) is seeking an experienced catering and events manager.  This person will manage and execute off-site events for all three properties, from intimate dinner parties to food festivals to weddings to large-scale events.  Most events are located in the Los Angeles area.


The ideal candidate is talented, creative, and service-oriented with a key eye for detail. Must have a minimum of 3 years working in catering and events, with restaurant experience preferred.  This position requires a strong leader who has experience dealing with vendors and venues, organizing rental orders, managing staff, and handling a large volume of inquiries at one time.  Hours must be flexible due to the nature of events.
 
Responsibilities include:

  • Field inquiries and manage client base while generating new event opportunities
  • Work with clients to create and present proposals quickly and on deadline.
  • Work with chefs, bartenders and co-owners to develop specialty menus per clients needs & budget.
  • Plan and execute the operational elements of all special events, including:

          - Applying for liquor permits through ABC and assist in insurance requirements for events.
          - Scheduling catering personnel appropriately based upon needs.
          - Working with clients on design and set-up of each event.
          - Coordinating with vendors and venues.
          - Designing on-site materials like menus.

  • Ensure that all catering orders are processed and fulfilled to client expectations.
  • Accommodate last minute orders and add-ons efficiently and courteously.
  • Manage all paperwork - including schedules, invoices, and contracts.
  • Track hours for catering staff and assist with payroll.
  • Maintain special event marketing collateral and photographs.
