Q What do you do?

I’ve embarked on a dynamic two-decade journey as a Creative Director, Ideator, Designer, and Curator, specializing in luxury brands.

My expertise spans a multitude of creative realms, from orchestrating full brand edits and 360 brand identity ideation to crafting compelling narratives through visual storytelling, branding, and image and video editing. I've curated aesthetics across retail venues, directed photoshoots, designed home goods, and even ventured into the world of PR and lecturing. With a global perspective honed from experiences in London, Cape Town, and beyond, my commitment lies in delivering exceptional results while mentoring and driving innovative visions.

Q How do you stand out in your field?

What sets me apart is my ability to seamlessly navigate diverse creative terrains, from conceptualizing impactful brand strategies to ideating physical product designs. I've honed my skills through design team management, directing a team of creatives, hands-on photoshoot direction and styling and overseeing comprehensive brand edits. My approach is founded on versatility, adaptability, and a commitment to client satisfaction. I thrive on crafting innovative stories that resonate across global markets and diverse cultures, maintaining a delicate balance between aesthetics and functionality. My passion lies in driving brand cohesion and enhancing the overall design experience.

Q What are you working on right now?

I am creating a new look and feel for Kelly Hoppen a British interior designer, I consult for Alexandra Poster Bennaim a luxury PR Parisian agency. Pro bono freelance as Creative Director for Monkeybiz South Africa (a non-profit empowerment bead art project) partnering with well known brands. I also paint and create art for private clients.

Q What’s your style?

I have an edge, and wide range of tastes and styles. I ride many lanes artistically. Modern artists, interior design, architecture, foreign film, psychology and Kelly Wearstler inspire me. I could talk days about this.

Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?

I wish to dive deeper into immersive storytelling. While my current roles encompass a broad spectrum of creative disciplines, the art of crafting compelling narratives and immersive experiences holds a special allure. My experience with interior design definitely helps in translating concepts into a physical experience and space.

Q What is frustrating you right now?

Navigating the AI landscape as a Creative Director brings its own set of challenges, primarily due to the conflicting information available. There's a yearning for more clarity and practicality, especially when it comes to courses tailored for creative minds in a managerial role. Streamlining the integration of AI into creative direction is a goal, and I'm on the lookout for resources that offer a smoother, more straightforward path.

Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?

I would entrust them with the meticulous organization of administrative tasks, including project coordination, scheduling, and handling communication.

Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?

Rome was not built in a day. Be patient and don’t be so overly critical of your progress.

Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?

I would seek insights from an expert in innovative digital marketing strategies, particularly harnessing the power of emerging technologies to create immersive brand experiences. The intersection of creativity and cutting-edge marketing techniques intrigues me.

Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?

Open to projects showcasing my diverse and multidisciplinary skills – comprehensive brand edits, visual storytelling, ideation, product design for homegoods and experiential retail spaces. I also thrive in directing photo and video shoots, immersing myself in the full-on action. At my core, I'm a joyous facilitator for companies, collaborating with existing creative teams to spark brainstorming sessions and cultivate a culture of continuous creativity.

Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.

My sweet spot? A client or team savoring the blend of creativity, storytelling and strategy. My strength in curating and editing is sharp. With a proven track record, I've curated immersive brand experiences at Bergdorf Goodman, crafted a design masterclass in London, I led the creative process for Kelly Hoppen's website and three bestselling design books: "In Touch", "Closeup" and "Style". I have also breathed life into diverse product ranges. From scents and paints to ceramics, fabrics, bedding, and furniture, even venturing into award-winning brand creation for a South African wine label and packaging.

Q What is your rate?

While the pricing structure varies based on project complexity, my rates typically align with the industry standards for a seasoned Creative Director. Onsite and remote day rates ranging from $800-$2000. Choose versatility – from immersive brand audits, visual storytelling, R&D, to expert curation, styling, and editing.

Flexibility is key: explore packages starting at $3000 and monthly retainers from $4000. Seeking advice? Hourly consultations at $150 -$250 ensure personalized guidance.
