Q What do you do?

I am a Melbourne & Tokyo based photographer and filmmaker. Foremost, my work focuses on portraits and kimono photography.

I currently work with local brands, models and everyday people to help create their personal branding and self-portraits."

Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?

Be open minded and keep on learning. There's no end to what you can learn to improve yourself and your craft.

Don't stop. You can either pick up your pace or slow down - but whatever you do, just don't stop. The moment you stop, you will lose momentum going forward and will most likely lose a lot of opportunities.

Q How do you stand out in your field?

While growing up, I was mostly inspired by works of East & South-Eastern Asian culture and music. Having travelled to various Asian countries and experiencing the different music, food and etiquettes, I compiled every piece of these experiences and incorporate them into my work.

Q What are you working on right now?

The biggest part of my work is portrait photography, and to move further in that field I am designing a series of prints and products for my clients.

Q What’s your style?

My photography aims to be timeless. I want every image I take to last forever - that my clients would look back in 5 or 10 years time to their images and it would still impact them the same way as it did the first time their saw it.

Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?

While I offer other services such as retouching, filmmaking, and photography workshops, I'd still say photography is my primary focus. It's not just work for me, but also a passion that I will pursue for the longest time. I want to keep learning and keep improving on my craft.

Q What is frustrating you right now?

Keeping up with social media and marketing is the toughest task for me. There's so many platforms and ever changing algorithms that makes it difficult to know whether I'm heading in the right direction or not.

Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?

I'd pay them more for marketing and social media handling.

Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?

I would've told 18 year old me to just dive into the creative field, despite what everyone around me thought or advised. And, to anyone else, don't let other people say you're not good enough.

Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?

Business and marketing.

Productivity.

What is your skin care routine?

Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?

I am looking for clients and projects that doesn't have boundaries and limitations to their creative board. I want that client to just say out loud what it is that is going through their creative mind and unleash it.

A goal of mine is to create timeless work for that client, and that work will become the staple of their image.

Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.

It's appreciated when a client understands what, and how much, work goes into a photoshoot. Having a mutual understanding and trust with that client will elevate the quality of the work tenfold.

Q What is your rate?

My rates depend on the project. I take into consideration of the complexity and time that may take to complete the work in order to deliver to the client's standards.

It is best to reach out to me via email firumubytri@gmail.com, or even a message over Instagram.
