Q What do you do?

I’m a graphic designer and I love what I do!

I make the visuals for your organization or brand so that people who don't know anything about your brand are have an idea of what you even before they read your company's statement. I can create your logo, your branded materials, your message on social media, branded merch, etc.

Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?

I graduated from Scripps College with a degree in digital media studies and started off as a freelance graphic designer specializing in social media jobs. I've had a lot of different clients over the years, mostly in the non-profit sector. I take night classes at Pasadena City College and Art Center to further hone my graphic design skills.

Q How do you stand out in your field?

I work to give my clients the solid work in a short period time and at a cost-effective rate. I'm good at working quickly while still putting a lot of effort, creativity, and love into whatever project I have.

Q What are you working on right now?

My last project was re-designing a batch of business cards for an organization's entire outreach department, around 55 people. I'm proud of my redesign, which I've updated to look brighter and easier to read.
I'm also working on printing a set of risograph posters I designed for a local art gallery exhibit, but that's less about work and more of a passion project.

Q What’s your style?

My style is bright, bold, and a little playful! I want my designs to be accessible and enjoyable for as many people as possible.

Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?

I would love to learn more about photography, especially product photography. Also, motion graphics seem really cool.

Q What is frustrating you right now?

Making time for passion projects or projects that really encapsulate my design style. Most jobs from my personal network and need to be more corporate or professional, but I'd really love to get branding jobs that just allow me to be more bright and fun.

Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?

100% someone to answer all my emails and do all of the administrative paperwork that comes with being an adult. I do a pretty good job at handling administrative work myself, but it's still draining.

Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?

I would tell myself to not give up so easily on the creative pursuits or projects that don't turn out the way I want. The only way to get better at creative work is to make imperfect projects and then learn from your mistakes. You have to acknowledge when you've messed up in order to improve!

Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?

I'd love to talk to a more business-minded freelancer about self-promotion, creating contracts, and, of course, doing taxes. It's hard to be both a creative force and your own business and administrative person.

Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?

Branding, social media campaigns. Preferably in the LA area, but I'm open to remote work.

Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.

I'd love to work with a sustainable fashion brand. Or a fashion/culture magazine. Really anyone who is really proud of their work and wants to spread the word.

Q What is your rate?

Depends, but my hourly rate starts at $25/hr. Email me for a more exact estimate.

Q How should someone approach you about working together?

Shoot me an email at sarahewongdesign@gmail.com describing your project, your timeline, your budget, and any other project constraints.
