Q What do you do?

Hola! I’m a Spanish language and culture specialist with an interdisciplinary background.

I am the founder of Sobremesa.Institute, the unconventional Spanish school. Based in Barcelona, it's not just any Spanish school – we’ve flipped the script on conventional language teaching with a method designed for a world that plays by new rules. Our meaningful and adapted Spanish Program intertwines with Barcelona’s vibrant and multifaceted creative community, and the warm essence of our Mediterranean culture. After years of teaching Spanish and leading language schools, I set out to develop a method that would transmit my values and beliefs, and Sobremesa.Institute is the place where all the things I care for come together.

Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?

Since I was a kid I’ve had an unlimited curiosity for new and different things happening in the world and have always had the urge to get involved. For me, the real risk is not changing. This is the reason my work is interdisciplinary.
Being passionate about nature, I felt the need to understand its language so I studied Biology in my hometown. Shortly thereafter I decided to move to Barcelona in search of authentic Mediterranean charms. Once settled here, I fell in love with the alternative culture juxtaposed with the scenic backdrop of the city. I gave it a try and I studied photography, graphic design and motion graphics, working as a freelancer for some time. It was so fun and exciting, a new city and a new creative language.
My passion for teaching and inspiring social change emerged while leading an international cultural project in Guatemala. This experience opened my eyes to the power of education and inspired me to pursue a career as a Spanish teacher, the language I love.
I have always felt the need to communicate in different ways, to express myself through all these languages that perfectly combine with each other, to communicate with words or without using words. Sometimes it wasn’t easy but I am very proud of what I have achieved in life. Do what you love for a living!

Q How do you stand out in your field?

Sobremesa.Institute emerged from a desire to be different – to be unconventional.
From our name, the term 'Sobremesa' is a declaration of love to our Spanish heritage, while we believe that “Institute” best conveys the ideas of equality and community behind our vision. But this vision didn't come to life on its own. I had the incredible fortune of working alongside an amazing team, all members of Barcelona's creative community. Their insights, energy, and passion have been instrumental in shaping our brand identity.
Our Spanish program offers a unique blend of online and in-person services, creating a two-way flow that provides a high-quality, modern, and remarkable approach to language learning. Our methodology isn't just about learning; it's about experiencing. We bring the artistic language closer to the Spanish language because we believe that engaging with art is transformative, and we love to communicate in every possible language.

Q What are you working on right now?

Currently, we are developing our Inspirational Immersions for 2024. A language immersion that reframes the way we live and interact. Our passion for aesthetics and attention to detail enables us to craft these experiences for the modern nomad, for the respectful and curious adventurer, for culture lovers, and for unconventional conscious learners.
Keep an eye out! We want to share a 'sobremesa' with you ♡

Q What’s your style?

Beauty is my leitmotif! I deeply believe that beauty, in all its forms, is a vital part of our existence, and I passionately weave it into every aspect of my life.

Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?

Being a connector! Creating those special moments where people and creativity collide and spark something new and beautiful. I’m really happy balancing my profession between the digital realm and the real world.

Q What is frustrating you right now?

I am positive, adventurous, and creative, with a good sense of humor :) For me, Sobremesa.Institute is a dream come true, so there's really no room for frustrations in my playbook!

Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?

Dive from content creation to client engagement… but I think a multi-talented gem like that would be priceless!

Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?

Looking back, I wish I could have whispered to my younger self: 'Unleash that entrepreneurial spirit now. The sooner you start, the longer the adventure. And it is worth every moment, so don't wait.'

Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?

If I could sit down with an expert, it would be to delve deeper into the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the world of language learning. I'm fascinated by the potential of AI to unlock innovative ways for learners to express themselves creatively through a new language.

Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?

We are looking for the opportunity to connect with like-minded creatives. We believe now is the perfect time to share fresh messages and we want those who choose Sobremesa.Institute to truly know and value us.

Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.

Our vision will resonate with anyone who cherishes the art of communication and values a sense of community, where people engage in casual conversations, share stories, and build relationships.
