WHAT DO YOU DO?

I help brands define their creative strategies, develop meaningful content, and share their stories in impactful ways.

I spend my workdays conceptualizing content calendars, writing and editing copy, writing articles and blog posts, and looking for new ways to share brand stories. I love going through the process of taking the time to understand where a brand has been so we can strategically plan where we want to go.

WHAT STEPS DID YOU TAKE TO GET TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW?

My path so far has not been linear, which I'm extremely grateful for because it's made me a more adaptable person. After graduating with a communications degree from UT Austin, I dove headfirst into the tech industry, working in various roles. However, I finally hit my creative stride when I started freelancing for startups, building their social and content marketing strategies. Since then, I've been lucky to freelance full-time, and every day is different!

FOR OTHER PEOPLE IN YOUR FIELD, WHAT DO THEY USUALLY LACK?

Freelancing is definitely not for everyone. You need to stay on top of multiple clients, be super organized, and work independently with much less structure. In my opinion, creative freedom and a flexible schedule makes it worth it.

WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON RIGHT NOW?

I’m currently working on defining the B2C content strategy for an IoT company, which is still a pretty niche industry. Creating helpful smart home-related content for consumers has been a fresh challenge.

WHAT'S YOUR STYLE/PERSPECTIVE/TASTE? DO YOU HAVE A PROJECT THAT REPRESENTS THIS?

My writing style is clear and informative, with as little fluff as possible. Although, adding in a little humor to an article never hurts.

WE ARE ALL SLASHIES WITH MULTIPLE SKILLS, WHICH ONE DO YOU WISH YOU COULD DO MORE OFTEN?

I absolutely love doing research. Whether it's a competitive review, user experience, or just taking a general pass, I love seeing what's out there and finding inspiration through research.

WHAT IS FRUSTRATING YOU RIGHT NOW?

Right now, I'm having trouble making the right connections to help me find clients that I truly vibe with. I'm the absolute worst at networking and putting myself out there!

IF YOU COULD HIRE SOMEONE FOR $20/HR, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE THEM DO TO MAKE YOUR DAY EASIER?

I'd have someone pull data and analytics for me. The numbers are very important, but I'd rather someone else gather and organize them. I'm much more right-brained and would prefer to focus on creative or big picture pursuits.

LET'S BRING OUT THE TIME MACHINE. WHAT DO YOU WISH YOU COULD HAVE TOLD YOURSELF, WHEN, AND WHY?

A year ago, I wish I would have known that you don't need to stick with jobs that aren't for you. I wish I would have had the confidence to step out and go freelance sooner - but at least I got there!

IF YOU COULD TALK TO AN EXPERT TO GAIN MORE INSIGHT ON SOMETHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT?

Google Analytics! I'd love to seamlessly pull reports without thinking about it.

WHAT KIND OF OPPORTUNITIES/PROJECTS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

I’m looking for copywriting opportunities - sales copy, landing pages, email newsletters, social copy, blog posts, and more. I can also help with the editorial strategy and content calendar creation.

DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAL JOB/CLIENT/COLLABORATION.

I love entering a client relationship where there's a high level of independence - everyone respects the process of getting things done, while also being collaborative.

WHAT IS YOUR HOURLY RATE, RETAINER, OR SALARY RANGE?

It definitely depends on the project scope and client's budget! Happy to talk this through.

HOW SHOULD SOMEONE APPROACH YOU ABOUT WORKING TOGETHER?

Please email me at scrobalino@gmail.com with details of your project! I would love to connect!

HOW DO YOU STAY CREATIVE?

Take walks often and play guitar.
