Q What do you do?

I am a professional dancer and a choreographer in the US music industry.

I also teach/coach dance performances.

Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?

I was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. I grew up very much a tomboy for my entire childhood. Since I was a baby I’ve naturally had a good sense for music and moving my body. I’m very grateful my parents let me tap into any kind of art or music that was accessible to me. I learned piano, acting, jazz dance, karate, baseball, basketball, swimming, track + field, calligraphy, skiing, snowboarding and so on. When I entered high-school and saw the school dance team perform my love for dance sparked in my heart and kept me going to get to where I am today.

I moved to NYC when I was 18 years old and continued to study dance. I obtained my first O-1 Artist visa by getting sponsored when I was 21 years old. Soon after I had my first dance audition and I went on my first world tour with Sean Paul and from then on my professional career began.

Growing up in such a small city in Japan, I would have NEVER (nor non of my family) imagined that I would have the lifestyle I have today. I've gotten the opportunity to work with various artists including: Beyonce, Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake, Usher, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga and many more. I've also had the privilege to choreograph music videos, commercials and TV shows for Grimes, Steve Aoki, Lauren Jauregui, Nike and Metro LA, etc.

Q How do you stand out in your field?

The talent that comes with the quality in skills. Great taste and sense.

Q What are you working on right now?

Besides my professional work in the industry, I am choreographing / coaching an upcoming Japanese girl group.

Q What’s your style?

I have one project that I am working on currently, but Grimes - Violence is a project that I choreographed and performed in which I am proud of.

Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?

Through all the years I've grown and obtained knowledge from the music industry as a dancer myself, I am now more focused on and putting my energy towards choreographing / coaching and creating for other artists who want to expand their creativity in the music industry.

Q What is frustrating you right now?

The COVID-19 / Pandemic.

Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?

I don't think I would need anyone to help me out as of now. I do everything for myself and I like the way I get it done quickly on my own. :)

Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?

I would go back to when I was in first grade, and tell myself to do gymnastics. I just wish I had some flipping skills. I was such a tomboy growing up so I know that my young self was capable of gymnastics and probably would loved it.

Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?

An expert of psychologist. I would love to know about generations of mentalities. How the mindset and everything sifted as the life and technologies developed. Why are we obsessed with technologies, what is affecting us as human beings. Just a thought that came to my mind at this moment.

Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?

Besides using this skill to create content for myself, I would love to have the opportunity to choreograph or perform on some more projects

Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.

Working with the artists in the music industry. I would like to focus on US and Asian market. Innovate what I can do as a movement/content creator and make some inspirations for music and fashion.

Q How should someone approach you about working together?

I personally like a DM on Instagram, I think it's a bit more relaxed compared to an email, but still can be very proper since we use the platform for creative purposes. I would love an intro to include a very clear idea of the project, am I dancing or choreographing it, budget of the project and we can go from there. :)
