WHAT DO YOU DO?

I make visions into realities!

I'm David, a designer, art director and visual artist, living and working in Los Angeles. As of right now, I run a design consulting and service business that specializes in Art Direction, Branding, and Package Design. My mission is to take a project from concept to implementation. And think through all of the elements involved in the creative process and guide my client every step of the way to bring their vision to life.

I believe that effective communication and relevant solutions come from concise messaging, impactful visuals, and an in-depth understanding of both the client and the task at hand. My work ranges from brand identities, print and digital web UI prototyping to conceptual illustration and photography. I'm passionate about art and design, and also about the cultural and environmental well-being of our world, which is why I am always interested in collaborations around such topics.

WHAT STEPS DID YOU TAKE TO GET TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW?

It’s all about creating goals and achieving them. Each day I try my best to be better than I was yesterday, progression. My strategy is to always to have a set plan and follow it till the end. Three words that I always thrive for is be patient, be driven, and be consistent.

FOR OTHER PEOPLE IN YOUR FIELD, WHAT DO THEY USUALLY LACK?

I would have to say others lack style. Sometimes, I see other creatives follow a trend and everything tends to look the same. There is nothing wrong with that approach, however, I try to have a unique style to my work.

WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON RIGHT NOW?

I have three current projects. First being my personal art solo show, currently looking for a space to show. Second, my freelance design business, helping my clients with their projects. And lastly, my clothing line capsule of customized punk/metal leather and denim jackets!

WHAT'S YOUR STYLE/PERSPECTIVE/TASTE? DO YOU HAVE A PROJECT THAT REPRESENTS THIS?

Terms that represent me and my style would be clean, modernist, minimalist, edgy, punk rock, bold, strong, and underground.

WE ARE ALL SLASHIES WITH MULTIPLE SKILLS, WHICH ONE DO YOU WISH YOU COULD DO MORE OFTEN?

I would like to develop my web and coding more, and get more involved with Ux/Ui design. The future of design is digital, and I want to adapt to the changes of our modern social culture.

WHAT IS FRUSTRATING YOU RIGHT NOW?

Networking! I wish I was more outgoing and social.

IF YOU COULD HIRE SOMEONE FOR $20/HR, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE THEM DO TO MAKE YOUR DAY EASIER?

I would hire a social media marketer, a person who understands company or personal awareness growth in today’s digital social culture.

LET'S BRING OUT THE TIME MACHINE. WHAT DO YOU WISH YOU COULD HAVE TOLD YOURSELF, WHEN, AND WHY?

I wish, I could have told myself to quite my day job sooner, because it was the best decision I ever made.

IF YOU COULD TALK TO AN EXPERT TO GAIN MORE INSIGHT ON SOMETHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT?

Sales and Marketing!

WHAT KIND OF OPPORTUNITIES/PROJECTS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

I’m looking for projects that involve a modern, contemporary, minimalist approach.

DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAL JOB/CLIENT/COLLABORATION.

A client who understands that good design takes time and patience.

WHAT IS YOUR HOURLY RATE, RETAINER, OR SALARY RANGE?

Every project is unique to the goals, budget, and timeline of the client—in other words, highly customizable.

HOW SHOULD SOMEONE APPROACH YOU ABOUT WORKING TOGETHER?

An email with project details. about what the project and what is needed. I reply with a short set of questions, and set up a phone call to learn more about the project and confirm if it’s a good fit. After the call, a proposal with the project details will be created; upon acceptance, a contract will be assigned.

HOW DO YOU STAY CREATIVE?

Always being ahead of the curve!
