Co-Founder/Head of Architecture + Design, Apply Studios
What steps did you take to get where you are now?
My journey has been fun, exciting, mostly full of continuous ups and downs. It all started one day when I realized that I was good at things. Most of these things you didn't find in a college course or in a book, thus my career path was difficult. However, when ApplyStudios stumbled into my life it was all clear.
For other people in your field, what do they usually lack?
Simplicity. I have learned that many people in my field look for the big-unicorn-idea, when in actuality the biggest success happens when you just decided "Hello" is going to be enough.
What are you working on right now?
Recently, I have been working on orchestrating experiences for our users. We have developed a extremely unique approach in designing, and creating our products. We are very excited for our upcoming launch!
We are all Slashies with multiple skills, which one do you wish you could do more often?
Community building is something that I wish I could focus all my project on. I want to be the voice of my community and provide opportunities for the community that raised to be successful.
What is frustrating you right now?
Thus far, nothing is extremely frustrating... but we are having a difficult time finding iOS developers for a secret project we have in the works. I hope to gain some leads very soon :-)
What task keeps landing at the bottom of the To Do list?
Phone calls! I have about 20-30 people that I would love to follow up with, but it seems my day just continues to run for the hills with no warning.
If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?
I would have them help further design our brand message. Though we have a great brand message, I think that with some very small changes we can expands our voice.
Let's bring out the time machine. What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?
When I was 16, I wish I could have told myself to learn design. Now that I am significantly older, I had learn my passion is in all things design. I am just fascinated with the idea that I can create anything in my mind.
If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?
Right now, I am looking for a business mentor. Someone to help shape and articulate exactly what we do using very sexy words.
What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?
Currently, I am looking for project that can really expand my knowledge through testing the skills that I have learned throughout my career.
What is your ideal client?
My ideal collaboration is where two budding organizations are coming together to create something extremely special. Let's create amazing together.
Do you allow yourself to say No?
Nope! The only thing I say is "Sure, Why Not!' Simply because, I always look for a good story to tell.
What is your rate?
Our pricing is based on what you would like to bring to the table. I think that exchange of skills for expertise could drastically change the scope of ApplyStudios.
How should someone approach you about working together?
Email me! I love collaborating with people. Like-minded to should-not-even-be-in-the-same-room. You can learn from anyone
