WHAT DO YOU DO?

I design and create simple and effective artistic graphics for print and digital materials.

WHAT STEPS DID YOU TAKE TO GET TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW?

I have always been interested in the arts and started out in fine arts. I studied art and art history in college and then found myself interested in graphic arts, which is the direction I took professionally. Now I have several years experience working in the world of design. My biggest accomplishment has been the development of my design style and the ability to apply it to a wide grouping of industries. Whether I'm managing a design team, working for another creative, or as part of a collaborative effort, I have always loved what I do.

FOR OTHER PEOPLE IN YOUR FIELD, WHAT DO THEY USUALLY LACK?

Patience to find the right solution.

WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON RIGHT NOW?

Currently I run a very popular blog. I am working on a new website design for Dennis Leri, a sculpture artist. I recently created a family tree illustration service that is custom. And I am collaborating with a local curator on the promotion for her gallery business.

WHAT'S YOUR STYLE/PERSPECTIVE/TASTE? DO YOU HAVE A PROJECT THAT REPRESENTS THIS?

My style is simple and clean. I always like to think of it as "refreshing" and the opposite of daily life which is usually bombarded by imagery. My entire portfolio reflects this -- but if I have to pick one project it would be this -- VOX Magazine which was a local (hamptons) publication that is no longer in print... I was the Creative Director for several years.

WE ARE ALL SLASHIES WITH MULTIPLE SKILLS, WHICH ONE DO YOU WISH YOU COULD DO MORE OFTEN?

Arts — or Artisan services

WHAT IS FRUSTRATING YOU RIGHT NOW?

Focusing more on Social Media for myself --- For example, I know I should use Instagram more to promote the work I do, but I almost forget to do it. Meanwhile I help and tell clients to keep up the good work..

IF YOU COULD HIRE SOMEONE FOR $20/HR, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE THEM DO TO MAKE YOUR DAY EASIER?

Organize my emails

LET'S BRING OUT THE TIME MACHINE. WHAT DO YOU WISH YOU COULD HAVE TOLD YOURSELF, WHEN, AND WHY?

I wish I had learned earlier that when I start making mistakes (typos, missing corrections, sizing or color issues, etc) it means that I need to walk away from the project. This doesn't happen very often, but when it does, the project tends to become a sinking ship.

IF YOU COULD TALK TO AN EXPERT TO GAIN MORE INSIGHT ON SOMETHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT?

Sales strategies and finding new and interesting projects.

WHAT KIND OF OPPORTUNITIES/PROJECTS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

Creative design projects— I'm open to pretty much anything

DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAL JOB/CLIENT/COLLABORATION.

The ideal job has no deadline, which isn't very realistic... The ideal client is one who gives great insight and listens to advice given.... This goes for a collaboration too because I feel they are one in the same.

WHAT IS YOUR HOURLY RATE, RETAINER, OR SALARY RANGE?

$85-$100/hr. This is negotiable.

HOW SHOULD SOMEONE APPROACH YOU ABOUT WORKING TOGETHER?

Scope of the project and how they see us working together

HOW DO YOU STAY CREATIVE?

play with kids, walk the dogs
