I work with brands and startups to develop their voice, look and feel through quality content, social media presence, and branding.

Wherever the brand is in their journey, I can help them gain more customers by improving their presence online!

 

WHAT STEPS DID YOU TAKE TO GET TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW?

My journey started in fashion styling and creative direction, helping businesses to develop their 'brand' through imagery. I then parlayed my understanding of commercial and editorial industries into a career in journalism, writing for multiple luxury publications including LA Confidential and Modern Luxury. Recognizing that more and more readers were moving to online, I moved into digital media and marketing working with celebrity clients such as Harry Shum Jr. from Glee and Tracee Ellis Ross from Blackish, as well as major corporations such as UCLA and EQAL Media (now Everyday Health). After 8 years working for different companies in-house, I've taken the leap to full time freelance just 2 months ago and now looking to work with clients big and small!

 

FOR OTHER PEOPLE IN YOUR FIELD, WHAT DO THEY USUALLY LACK?

I've put in the time to learn all facets of digital media, from copywriting for advertisements to user experience design. Most creatives in the industry stick to one specialization, but marketing is rarely linear. Understanding the user flow and working with every detail is what makes content strategy and social campaigns work!

 

WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON RIGHT NOW?

I've just launched a travel blog with tips and inspiration for young married couples and families, and I'm actively seeking out new freelance clients for my consultancy.

WHAT'S YOUR STYLE/PERSPECTIVE/TASTE? DO YOU HAVE A PROJECT THAT REPRESENTS THIS? 

My style is very eclectic and modern, I'm not afraid to use color, but also recognize when to pull back from it. I think it's largely drawing from my travels.

fashion, art and travel are my absolute passions!

 

WHAT IS FRUSTRATING YOU RIGHT NOW?

PR and business development, I'm a creative so I prefer doing the actual work over chasing down clients. Also, knowing where to advertise to find my ideal clients is also challenging.

 

IF YOU COULD HIRE SOMEONE FOR $20/HR, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE THEM DO TO MAKE YOUR DAY EASIER?

LET'S BRING OUT THE TIME MACHINE. WHAT DO YOU WISH YOU COULD HAVE TOLD YOURSELF, WHEN, AND WHY?

8 years ago I would have told myself, 'Take photos of everything you work on!' There's so much work I did in the past that I never captured, so much of it isn't included on my site. 5-6 years ago, I would have told myself, 'ABS (always be selling), you never know where your next client is going to come from.' And after graduating college, I would've said, 'You can do anything, but you can't do everything.' Sometimes I think the breadth of what I've done turns people off. I am not a pillar person, I don't do just one thing well. I have so much experience juggling multiple things, but I'm not convinced that's a strength yet.

 

IF YOU COULD TALK TO AN EXPERT TO GAIN MORE INSIGHT ON SOMETHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT?

What's the best way to jumpstart your consultancy or business? When is the best time to take on an employee? How long did you go before finally turning a profit? How did you know if you would be successful? Is it really as simple as 'If you never give up, at some point things will work out?'

 

WHAT KIND OF OPPORTUNITIES/PROJECTS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

Clients and businesses looking for social media assistance, copywriting, digital marketing, and/or branding work on contract. 

 

DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAL JOB/CLIENT/COLLABORATION.

My ideal client is a startup or business who is passionate about their product but may be having trouble with growth. I'd love to work with B2C businesses, namely home decor brands, clothing/accessories brands, boutiques or stores, beauty companies, non-profits, etc.

WHAT IS YOUR HOURLY RATE, RETAINER, OR SALARY RANGE? 

Because what I do is highly dependent on what stage the client is at with their business, I create customized proposals for them that usually include three different price point options depending on their needs.

For example, a basic monthly retainer for social and analytical strategy would be $1500/month. This would include working with their in-house social team (or the client themselves) on the type of content to post to drive traffic and increase followers, setup or adjustment of Google Adwords and social ads and testing effectiveness, and relating everything back to an overarching brand strategy or campaign that would touch email and additional marketing efforts so that all communication is cohesive. For a more in-depth, daily management of social media channels, email marketing campaigns, Google and social advertising, blog content, and regular reporting, the monthly retainer is $2500/month.
