Lunch Money Creative - Brittney Backos & Ryan Carmody
Instagram Community Manager & Ambassador Builder
We grow your Instagram community organically. There are two niche services we offer to get your IG rolling in the right direction: Community Management & Engagement Growth. As your Community Manager, Dropbox us your photos and we'll lay out a compelling editorial calendar to tell the story of your brand. We write the captions, research the hashtags and post on your behalf. As your Ambassador Builder, we'll focus multiple hours a week on striking up conversations with your target demographic to increase your brand visibility. With Instagram, the magic formula lies with the consistency of your content and the authenticity of your engagement. Those two elements are quite a powerful combination.
WHAT STEPS DID YOU TAKE TO GET WHERE YOU ARE NOW?
Ryan: Brittney came in with a decade of graphic design experience and I came in with a decade of hospitality experience. Between us, we knew brands and we knew people. Towards the end of last year, we just weren't having fun with other services we were offering through Lunch Money, so we cut them out completely. Pivoting to Instagram made the most sense and brought us the most joy, especially after taking Puno's Instagram Marketing course through General Assembly. (Thanks, Puno!)
FOR OTHER PEOPLE IN YOUR FIELD, WHAT DO THEY USUALLY LACK?
Brittney: It seems like when it comes to social media, everyone's looking for a shortcut. There's no other way to do the work properly without putting in the quality time to get it done right. Bots are nobody's best friend and can completely misrepresent your brand.
WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON RIGHT NOW?
Ryan: Currently, we are working with mid-sized brands and luxury retailers to convert their digital marketing strategy solely to Instagram. We are also on the advisory board of a Los Angeles non-profit that teaches underserved youth entrepreneurship.
WHAT'S YOUR STYLE/PERSPECTIVE/TASTE? DO YOU HAVE A PROJECT THAT REPRESENTS THIS?
Brittney: I think our company name says it all: Lunch Money. We're approachable and fun. I'd say our process is well-defined and one that our clients enjoy.
WE ARE ALL SLASHIES WITH MULTIPLE SKILLS, WHICH ONE DO YOU WISH YOU COULD DO MORE OFTEN?
Ryan: I'd love to work on public speaking. I'm a clear communicator, but would love to take it to the next level.
Brittney: I would like to focus more on making things. I love a good DIY project.
WHAT IS FRUSTRATING YOU RIGHT NOW?
Brittney: Between Lunch Money clients and freelance design work, my personal project, Soirée du Jour, tends to land at the bottom of the "To Do" list. I'd like to minimize my freelance work and make Soirée du Jour a bigger priority.
Ryan: Keeping my schedule in tact week to week is always a task. I hear there's an app for that though...
IF YOU COULD HIRE SOMEONE FOR $20/HOUR, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE THEM DO TO MAKE YOUR DAY EASIER?
Ryan: I would hire someone to prep my meals for the week so I wouldn't have to worry about feeding myself.
Brittney: I'd love to hire someone to run errands, such as grocery shopping. Sometimes, it's the little things that can weigh me down.
LET'S BRING OUT THE TIME MACHINE. WHAT DO YOU WISH YOU COULD HAVE TOLD YOURSELF, WHEN, AND WHY?
Brittney: 21 year-old self... Just go for it and stop overthinking it. You're going to fail, but don't stop taking action. Trust your gut; you know what to do.
Ryan: I would have told myself four years ago, "Hey, big guy, you're about to spend the next three years trying to become this thing called an entrepreneur. You'll go through hell and generally question everything about yourself, but the life you'll live after that will be deliciously sweet."
IF YOU COULD TALK TO AN EXPERT TO GAIN MORE INSIGHT ON SOMETHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT?
Ryan: I'd love to talk with venture capitalists to learn how and when to scale a business.
Brittney: I'd want to talk to a Lifestyle Coach about balancing our work and play.
WHAT KIND OF OPPORTUNITIES/PROJECTS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
Brittney: More quality brands with which to collaborate.
WHAT IS YOUR IDEAL CLIENT?
Ryan: Our ideal client is someone who values the man-hours it takes to implement a successful IG strategy. They've been doing the work themselves and are happy delegating the tasks to someone else to free up their time to focus on other aspects of their business, OR they have no clue where to begin, but are willing to build their IG account the right way and not looking for an overnight solution to magically bring them 10k followers.
WHAT IS YOUR RATE?
Brittney: For community management, we charge a retainer fee of $500/month. For engagement growth, our packages start at $1000/month and go up from there, depending on how aggressive you'd like to be with your growth.
HOW SHOULD SOMEONE APPROACH YOU ABOUT WORKING TOGETHER?
Ryan: The best way for us to understand your goals and your current IG status would be to visit our contact page on our website. From there, click on the "Did You Pass?" button to fill out our Instagram Assessment Request Form. We will assess the metrics of your Instagram for free and give you our recommendations to improve your strategy.
HOW DO YOU STAY CREATIVE?
Brittney: Book a trip. Go have fun.
